Hi there! I’m Alana Rae.

I’m a New York based Intimacy Coordinator and theatre educator. Growing up as a young performer in New Jersey, I was exposed to a variety of theatre educators and styles of teaching. Through this, my love for theatre education grew. In 2020, I graduated from Rutgers University, receiving my Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts and Film Studies. Through this degree, I began to learn more about the world of Intimacy work, and realized my passion was advocating for other actors to be able to thrive in a safe, protected work environment. Once I discovered this path, I decided to deepen my knowledge by pursuing my Masters degree in Applied Theatre in London from Goldsmiths University, and graduated in 2022. In April of 2024, I was chosen to be a part of the Intimacy Directors and Coordinators Professional Accelerator Program. This opportunity has allowed me to pursue a certification in both Intimacy Direction for the stage and Intimacy Coordination for film and television.

Over the past few years, Intimacy has become a recognizable issue in the entertainment industry, in front of and behind the camera. Finally, there is a role on set for a designated person to act as an advocate and liaison between the actors, crew, and creative team.

My goal is to create a consent-forward work environment in which performers feel comfortable, cared for, and protected.
